It's hard to believe that Easter Sunday is almost here! Where did March go, out with the wind? I am hosting Easter dinner here so I have a lot to do every day until then! But, it shouldn't be stressful since I know what I'm going to prepare and have things written down to do on certain days.
I've been busy in the kitchen as usual, and I made Kombucha! It is a fermented tea that is full of probiotics, which are good for the immune system. I brewed it until it had the flavor I liked, and it tastes delicious! I started out with a store bought bottle and went from there. There are directions on the web if you google it. Or you can use the directions from Katie at Wellness Mama. I'm also about to brew my own ginger ale. I've had a ginger bug brewing for several days and am about to move to the next step with it. You can also google ginger bug if you want to find out more information on that. I used the information from A Life Unprocessed blogspot.
Hope you all have a wonderful week and a Blessed Easter! Blessings from Bama!
The strips should have been latticed but I was in a hurry! This was a delicious Mexican chicken casserole! |
Sleeping Beauty, trying to keep the light out of her eyes! |
It's hard to hold a baby and take a photo at the same time! |
Little 'mischief maker'! |
Lemon pound cake made from lemons purchased for .99 at Aldi! |
Barb-q chicken breasts that was used in calzones. |
It is so delicious! |
I used a homemade barb-q sauce that I won't make again. It was ok, just too vinegary. |
Pouring up the Kombucha. See the scoby on top of the tea? |
Sleeping beauty - oh my, those girls are so cute. Your bread looks good. Never heard of that tea before. I'm doing Easter at my mom's house. Not sure what I will make yet. Thinking about breakfast items - something different for us. Blessings from Ringle, Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteHi Jacky! Thank you! You can get the tea at Whole Foods and health food stores. Sounds yummy!
DeleteHi Bama Girl! Love it...Messing Around In The Kitchen with the kids at your feet! Love it! It always makes me smile! :)
ReplyDeleteWould really like the lemon bread recipe...I've never had it and it looks yummy! What is your Easter dinner menu? How do you plan it that you could do something every day to prepare? Will there be a lot of family? Of course, we KNOW the kids will be there!!! Happy Easter, my friend, Hugs, Cheeryshirley
I'm sorry, I don't take the time to post recipes Shirley, but you can get it at Better Homes and Gardens site. I hope! That's the cookbook I used! Today, I took the ham out of the freezer to defrost in the fridge. Later today, I'll make the rolls and put in the freezer until that morning. Tomorrow I'll make the marinated slaw; Saturday the sweet potato casserole, and baked beans: Sunday morning, mac-n-cheese. So much better when I plan ahead and do things before the big day! My Mom is making deviled eggs and chicken and dressing. I don't think we'll need anything else! There will probably be about 15 here that day! Hugs to you too!
DeleteMy Lands! You are one amazing lady! You sound so much like the Proverbs 31 woman in the Bible...your children (& Husband, neices, etc) rise up and call you blessed! You are sowing seeds that WILL reap a bountiful harvest! May God continue to bless your efforts! Hugs, Cheeryshirley
