Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

I just wanted to take a moment out of your busy day and wish you all blessings for Thanksgiving. I'm not feeling well at all, but the turkey and dressing has to go on. I ended up at the dentist yesterday with an abscessed tooth! It had to be pulled, so I let them. It had already caused a bad sinus infection, so I'm still dealing with that on top of the swollen cheek. God is Good, though! He is helping me to get things done that I know I couldn't do in my own strength. I also wanted to share with you some photos of our kitchen island that hubby has been working on.
Let's remember to give thanks to our Father for our blessings, for this is the reason for Thanksgiving!

I stopped at the thrift store by the dentist and found this sleigh for 99.! I am going to paint it white.

The island is almost done! The breakfast nook however, is not. Window and doors need molding and the window needs a better treatment.

Hubby did the columns.

Close-up of the plaque purchased in Gatlinburg, last winter. It looks really nice here.

Beautiful Sunday!

I'm so thankful for beautiful, sunny, cloudy days! It's back and forth with the sun today. I'm thankful for people like you who read and follow my blog! How encouraging! I'm on a wreath kick lately. I just learned how, or shall I put it, still learning how, to make felt roses. I actually had them hot-glued onto the wreath and then decided to take them off. The roses just didn't look right, so I made some more. Hubby says these look better. It's nice to have a hubby who cares about little things like felt roses. I absolutely love roses and am trying to find some pretty pink silk roses to tie me over until mine bloom again. Some have bloomed recently but the latest cold made them droop. They still smell heavenly, though.
I've had good success lately with one in particular thrift store. It is by far, my favorite. The others don't mark things down like this one does. I got some toulle, (spell check didn't have this word), sweaters, two I decided I'll wear instead of for a project; pink lace, a bag of flowers that I want to gesso or plaster. Have you ever plastered flowers? I saw that on someone's blog, I think villa barnes. Pray that I get over this sinus infection before long because I have so much to do before everyone comes here Thursday! Enjoy these photos. Until next time! Blessings from Bama!

Yay! It's finished!

The door before.

Roses before.

Just to show the smaller size, not finished yet.

Both sizes.

Materials used.

The tutu wreath. What will I do with this?

I was so fortunate to find these items yesterday!

Thanksgiving, one week from today

Can you believe that it's turkey time? I'm so excited! I love the holidays, family and food. I love making the dressing while hubby is smoking the turkey. Maybe the turkey will get done in time, this year. I've been busy crafting, priming the door, sewing, and such this week. There aren't many yard sales this weekend and I'm not sure I will go to them. I've got a lot to do to get ready for next week. I want the door finished, for one thing, and "stuff" put up. Do you have 'stuff" laying around in your house? How does that happen so quickly? The island in the kitchen is now empty of all the "stuff" since hubby is grouting and finishing it, just in time for Thanksgiving. Yay!
I'm really enjoying listening to Pandora Radio, Michael Buble radio. It's not Christmas music, but just as soothing. Try it, you might like it! Here are some photos:
The door you've seen before, with another coat of primer. That's where I sit, in the background, soon to be moved upstairs again.

The decoupaged letters says thanks, looks better here  than in real life.

Letters hanging on a swag.

Win's outfit done. I had to add a ruffle to the pants since they were too short.

Have you seen this word before:

Nepotician? If not, then I just coined a new word! Do you know what it means? Nepotism and politician: I guess they're kind of the same, aren't they. I don't know why that was on my mind today, I guess I was just reminiscing about my old job that I don't have any more. O.k, enough of that and onto the reason for this post. I had a great three days last week yard-saling! I was so blessed to actually find what I was looking for! Wreaths! and Christmas decorations, curtains that I'm turning into a Thanksgiving tablecloth, pillow shams, a nice purse, I can't even remember what all, I just know it was all good. Looking forward to this weekends thrifty finds! Hear are some photos:

Can you believe this purse was only a dollar?

Check out the big goose egg, the first and only one we've gotten.

This box and the one in the next photo only cost me ten dollars!

Christmas wreaths and garland, a few ornaments and wall hanging.

I found this rag wreath in a box in the attic left over from the early nineties. I just changed the ribbon and it fits right in with me upstairs room. I'm wrapping yarn around a styrofoam wreath to make a wreath to give to Win. I'm going to make Yas one, too.

This is the upstairs room. I got the red felt for four dollars. There was a lot of it! I made the cone tree and wrapped the felt around it. I'm going to make another one and put them on the piano.

Saturday's finds. There is a lot of stuff in the box for thirteen-fifty!

Thought I'd throw in some pics of how things look outside now.

These leaves are still pretty.

These are the panels I'm going to make my tablecloth with. I just love the pattern!

This is the same box as before, just pulled some things out.

Loving those yard sales!

I have really gotten into going to yard sales and I'm loving it! This past weekend, there were at least sixty in our area! I couldn't by any means get to all of them, but I did make it to quite a few.  I found purses for anywhere from fifty cents- two dollars! I got a silver tray for fifty cents, material for fifty cents, I can't even name what all I got, there was so much of it! Then today I went to a couple of thrift stores and was disappointed because of the prices! They are much higher than yard sales. I did however, find a pattern, some material, and a jelly jar, all for the total of two dollars! I guess that wasn't so bad. I actually was surprised that there were even any yard sales this past weekend because the mornings are so cool and dark. I can't wait to see if there are any this weekend!
We went to Homestead Hollow Sunday but I left my camera card in the computer since I wanted to download pics for the blog. Talk about disappointed! We took the girls and their moms and we all had a blast! The girls were so cute riding the ponies and feeding the animals. I do have other pics, however, so hope you enjoy them. Hope to hear from you soon! I plan on blogging again soon, hopefully not as long between posts this time.

Looks like she's looking for eggs in her halloween clothes.

No eggs here!

Arbor hubby is building.

The only one of these she's co-operating.
